Composer and Sound Designer

SOMESH YATHAM is a Composer and Sound Designer who specializes in both media and chamber works. His music often focuses on utilizing personally crafted, unique sounds to create interesting soundscapes. As a trained percussionist, his music also often blends rhythmic elements into more intimate, nostalgic settings, working particularly well with drama, animation, and horror. His philosophy around sound design revolves around attention to detail with available services for foley, dialogue editing, and mastering. Somesh’s work has been featured in Oscar qualifying festivals such as Tasveer Film Festival, Ciniquest, LA shorts, and many more. 
Somesh has also worked with several music production companies including Joy Music House, 4 Elements, and MPATH. His credits include work on the music teams for projects at Netflix, Hulu, HBO, Apple TV, and Amazon Prime, which have received numerous accolades such as a Golden Globe nomination and premieres at the Cannes and Tribeca Film Festival.
On the concert stage, Somesh’s focus is on bringing a modern lens to the acoustic world. His work has been premiered by the Budapest Orchestra, Austin Symphony Orchestra, several New York University ensembles, Birmingham Conservatoire, Boston Conservatory, and numerous award winning chamber groups such as the Tetractys New Music, Worcester String Quartet, Panoramic Voices, and Fear No Music ensemble. Recently, his work was commissioned and premiered at the 2024 Midwest Clinic.
