Concert Music

Below is an evolving showcase of my concert music, ranging from orchestral, to chamber, to solo pieces, premiered all around the world. Performances are also found on my Youtube!

Dance of the Swordsman

Dance of the Swordsman consists of an energetic but elegant string quartet piece attempting to musically capture the art of swordfighting in many of it's possible uses (sport, conflict, etc). In doing so, I utilize similar melodic motifs through the entire piece with each section being characterized by a different texture that itself is defined by rhytmic changes and extended techniques. I hope you enjoy!

Special thanks to the Worcester String Quartet for their performance!

Machiavellian

Proud to say this song received second place in the 2019-2020 Austin Symphony Young Composers Competition, receiving its premiere by the orchestra. This piece takes every twist and turn possible, in line with Machiavelli’s scheming ideology. It uses elements such as high percussion and rapid idea changes to hopefully keep you on the edge of your seat. An altered version, Adaptation, received several national accolades as well.

60+ Piece Full Orchestra

The Grasp Of My Hand

In my second time working with the world-renowned Budapest Orchestra, The Grasp Of My Hand is meant to highlight the accumulation of my accomplishments as a composer and a sense of hope for what’s to come.

30+ Piece Chamber Orchestra

Special thanks to the Rithik Kundu for helping with the mix.

Perfect Imperfections

I had the phenomenal opportunity of working with the Budapest Orchestra to create an orchestral chamber piece. It was an incredible experience and I can’t wait to do more recording sessions in the next few years. Perfect Imperfections is a piece written and devoted to Aaris Dennington, someone who’s been such an incredible part of my life in the last year. Thank you for always being there, having my back, and trudging through this year with me. Wouldn’t have it any other way.

25+ Piece Chamber Orchestra

Drastic Measures

Drastic Measures, a chamber duet featuring Johnson Huynh on Soprano Saxophone and Somesh Yatham on Piano, is a dramatic piece meant to highlight the power and might that even just two instruments can express. Performed as part of the 2022 NYU Composer's Collective Instrumental Collaboration Concert.

Piano + Soprano Saxophone

Electrified Sea

This is my first electroacoustic piece using Logic Pro X, and it was written for the 2021 Young Composers Golden Hornet concert in a time where live acoustical performances are unfortunately not possible. However, I'm still really excited with how the piece turned out, and I look forward to using electronics and mixing in the future. Highly, Highly recommend listening with headphones for the full experience! Special Thanks to Golden Hornet for sponsoring the premiere and Matthew Aceves for his performance on marching snare .

Electronics, Cello, Marching Snare

Apollo

Apollo is piece for Violin, Viola, Double Bass, Piano, and Percussion meant to highlight the 17 Apollo missions that served as a foundation for the increasing amount of space exploration technology we have today. Furthermore, I hope with this piece to pay homage to Gus Grissom, Ed White, and Roger Chaffee, 3 astronauts who were unfortunately killed in the failed Apollo 1 mission. Look forward to having this performed by Fear No Music in Spring 2021. The recording presently consists of individual tracks performed by Austin Soundwaves and mixed by yours truly.

Chamber Quintet -Violin, Viola, Double Bass, Piano, Percussion

One Shot

One Shot, featuring 3 marimbas, 2 vibraphones, and 4 concert toms, is a driving, non-stop piece meant to embody the adrenaline of our most important decisions. In everyone's life, there are always a few crucial moments that define us as people. One Shot, with it’s irregular meter, rhythmic complexities, and never stopping motion aims to sonically replicate these moments and the determination associated with them. Thank you to the NYU Percussion Ensemble for their performance at the Frederick Lowe Theater

Percussion Sextet - 3 Marimbas, 2 Vibraphones, Quad Toms

Sleepless

Sleepless is the first of 3 pieces recorded by the Berklee College of Music. Written for solo piano in two days, this piece is meant to portray the hazy and almost blissful nature that one is imposed on one without sleep. We create differently, we imagine differently, and we think differently. It's a manner of being that can't be replicated any other way, and that product of being is what lead to the piece in front of you. Hope you enjoy!

Piano Solo

Finality

Written for Flute, Trombone, Cello, Piano, and Percussion, Finality marks the end of my high school careeer and my ventures towards a new stage in life. Performed at the illustrious Parker Jazz Club, This piece also concluded my 4 year journey as a participant, leader, and representative with composition labaratory, Golden Hornet.

Chamber Quintet - Flute, Cello, Vibraphone, Piano, Trombone

Locus of Control

Locus of Control is a duet for vibraphone and b flat clarinet and is the second composition of mine recorded at the High School Composition Intensive at Berklee. The term itself is mostly discussed of in the psychology field and refers to the degree in which people believe their life and actions are controlled by external forces rather than themselves. Covering this term in a more audio related sense with extended techniques and interesting textures, this piece is characterized by it's more mysterious, mystifying nature.
Special Thanks to performers Dan Reifsteck (Vibraphone) and Shannon Williams (Clarinet)!

Motherboard

Premiered at the UK Birmingham Conservatoire's 2021 CODA Festival, Motherboard is a piece for flute and accompanying electronics meant to convey the vastly differentiating perspectives towards AI and the enigmatic nature of how it impacts our future. With a focus on atmosphere, variation, and introspection, I hope the audience is able to form a story in their head and reflect on their thoughts concerning AI, ranging from the unpredictable and perhaps dangerous possibilities of such technology to the benevolent and pure potential of it

Special Thanks to the Birmingham Conservatoire YCP and Arjun Jethwa (flutist)

La Mancha

La Mancha is a rather barren patch of land in central Spain. Despite its appearance, it is a major agricultural sector and has great historical significance within Spain. I made this song using numerous Spanish influences keeping in mind the cultural significance of La Mancha on the world today.

Percussion Quartet: 3 Marimbas, Cajon

Pacific Waters

Pacific Waters is my newest and first piece highlighting strings. Putting emphasis on the variability water can cause in our lives, Pacific Waves contains utilizes a similar theme with different tones to bring a pleasant and inspirational experience. This piece was also meant to bring attention to the problematic Pacific Garbage Patch. Make sure to donate if you can using the link within the description of the youtube video.

Instrumentation: String Quartet

Special Thanks to Emma Ray for her art

Godspeed.

Godspeed was written with the intention of spreading positivity in a world which right now, is full of despair. This piece is meant to bring a little light to those who may be struggling and to wish that everyone remembers that we are all on neighbors on this Earth that deserve each other’s respect.

Pierrot Ensemble

Special Thanks to Golden Hornet (organizing entity) and Tetractys (performers)

2020 Mvt. 1

2020 Mvt.1 was my musical interpretation of the appalling events happening in the world today, the two most significant being the death of George Floyd and the rising toll of Covid-19. This piece was inspired by minimalism as seen by its repetitive and atmospheric nature, drawing influences from Phillip Glass and Steve Reich. Hope I can write a second movement representing the growth our world makes in the future.

Piano 1, Piano 2, , Vibraphone, Bass Drum

Circus Calamities

Circus Calamities is about all the weird and crazy phenomenons that can occur in a circus and is my first composed reed quintet. Rest assured, this is one of my more wacky pieces, but I consider to be one of my more fun ones as well. This piece is currently awaiting results from the NAFME Student Composer’s Competition.

Reed Quintet (Oboe, B♭ Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Bass Clarinet, Bassoon)

Connotation

Music Starts at 2:48. Connotation is my first ever composed full orchestra work and was the recipient of second place at the 2018-2019 Austin Symphony Young Composers Competition. Performed here by the Austin Symphony, this piece was also used for submission to the Texas Commission on the Arts which resulted in me officially becoming a 2019-2020 Young Master as certified by the Texas Cultural Trust and the Texas government. As suggested by the name, Connotation goes through a plethora of ideas and themes and was a product of modern through composing.

Instrumentation- 60 + Piece Full Orchestra

Nightmare in the Woods

Nightmare in the Woods was my first composed piece using instruments other than percussion. Courtesy of Golden Hornet and performed by Tetractys, this song has some abstract and unconventional elements. Besides just a different theme of music I’m used to, I employed components such as theatrics and art supplied by Connor Trammel to tell the story of a monster (percussionist) who chases kids (rest of the players) through the woods.

Pierrot Ensemble (Flute, B♭ clarinet, Violin, Cello, Piano, Percussion)
